Decorating your Wedding Favors
Wedding favors are so much more than a small gift. As well as being a token of thanks to your guests, they also provide the finishing touches to your reception tables and as a result you should pay as much attention to the presentation of your favors as you do the physical gift itself.
Decorating your wedding favors will not only make them prettier but will also coordinate them with your wedding scheme and help to unify the whole look of your table settings.
After choosing the item you will give as a wedding favor you will need to consider the packaging you will place it in. When it comes to packaging for wedding favors there are several options to choose from:
- Card boxes
- Plastic boxes
- Metal tins
- Fabric bags
- Paper bags
- Envelopes
- Bottles
- Novelty containers such as plant pots, miniature watering cans etc.
Many of these packaging solutions will be plain when you purchase them so you then need to think about how you will decorate them to coordinate them with your wedding scheme.
Firstly, think about the color. If possible choose colors that correspond with those you have chosen for your wedding. If your chosen colors are not available then choose a neutral shade such as white or cream as these will coordinate with anything.
Next you need to think about the embellishments. Here are a few ideas:
Ribbons – the simplest and cheapest option as you can buy ribbon in bulk which will go along way. Choose colors that coordinate with your wedding scheme and experiment with different widths, for instance, a wide band with a thinner ribbon on top in a different color. Also look into purchasing personalized ribbons with your names and wedding date on.
Experiment with tying bows or just using them to put a band of color around your wedding favors. Make sure any ends are trimmed or hidden away underneath.
Flowers – The most popular options are fabric or paper flowers which you can buy from craft stores. You will find many ‘varieties’ including roses – open, tea and buds, daisies, gerberas, pansies etc. Choose a variety that matches the flowers you are using for your wedding.
Many brides will use two or three miniature flowers tied with ribbon on their wedding favors, but for a more modern look why not choose large flower heads which cover the top of your wedding favors?
You can also use fresh flowers but remember you will need to add these at the last minute and store them somewhere cool to keep them fresh.
Stickers – There is a wealth of choice here, including custom printed personalized stickers, themed stickers from a craft stores, stick on embellishments, stick on gems, butterflies, ladybugs etc. Spend sometime browsing around a craft store to get some ideas of what is available and then choose something that will coordinate with your wedding theme.
Charms – Small metal or pewter charms are inexpensive to purchase and look lovely attached to your favors. Choose hearts or butterflies or charms which say something like ‘made with love for you’. They make an additional keepsake for your guests.
I have only really touched the surface of what is available to decorate your wedding favors. The key is to make sure that they coordinate with your wedding theme in terms of style, color and theme.

ladybug problemm...i caught a ladybg in a zip loc bag...we put holes in it with a safety pin ..
what do i feed it? will it be able 2 survive???? does it have enough room? please help and i will certanly choose the best answerr
uh its always fun to keep ladybugs you should give it aphids to eat, little tiny green bugs that drink the juice from the leaves of plants. andit does need more room than just a ziploc bag. Just set it free after just a few hours

Emerging ocean concern: tiny plastic particles
While scientists have documented the effects of large plastic flotsam in the oceans for decades, very little research has focused on what happens when those bigger pieces break down into tiny specks, called microplastics.
